We are lucky enough to have a wonderful grandpa who works at Disneyworld, so every time we make a trip down there we are treated with a trip to the park, if we want it. Timing and the ages of our kids almost prevented us from going, but we figured if we weren't paying for it we might as well go try and have some fun.
Every mom who takes their family to Disneyworld imagines having this perfect family picture with the Disney castle in the background. It involves everyone looking at the camera and smiling the biggest smiles of their life because they're in the happiest place in the world. In my imagination, there are also no other people to get in the way or to shove their faces inbetween me and my baby.
We did not get this picture.
First thing we did after walking through the hoards of people is go to Winnie the Pooh. This ride is super popular and super busy, but we were there early enough to beat the line. It is a pretty fun ride and has some fun things to do while you wait.
The waiting might have been Jason's favorite part.
At least until we were past the fun stuff...then it was a struggle. He liked the ride though.
And so did Bryan.
After that we headed over to It's a Small World while we were waiting for our fastpass.
Bryan really liked that ride too.
But Jason sure did love it. All the singing and dancing kids. He really liked looking at everything.
Next up was Peter Pan.
Too into the ride to get a fun picture of this one. He loved it!
We went to the Race Track next.
This was our longest line, but being able to see the cars really helped our little guy focus on the prize at the end of the long wait.
He jumped in the car with Daddy.
Ready to roll! Good thing Jason wasn't driving. Couldn't see the road.
Boy was it fun to race those cars!
Next up: Buzz Lightyear!
Jason was starstruck when we saw Buzz while waiting in line. He was there talking to us and telling us what our mission was!
Pretty happy boy.
We had a great time shooting those aliens!
Then we took a ride on the people mover.
Jason loved sitting by Grandpa and listening to him tell him all about everything they were seeing.
look at his little hands. :)
I thought my dream had come true when we found this view of the castle! What a perfect shot! No people crowding the background or butting uninvited into your picture. Just a pretty view of the castle. If only our kids had been cooperating.
This face pretty much typifies Jason's mood most of the time we were in this "happiest place on earth." He might have been just a little too young to enjoy it. And the hoards of people did not help. We're starting to think he gets frusterated around crowds and loud noises. I think next time we come, we'll try to shoot for the slowest tourist time of year.
And I'll definitely have to remember this photo spot!
Next we got to watch the parade and actually see all the Disney characters, which Jason loved.
Then, the boys both got a much needed nap...but even after Jason woke up he was a sourpuss. So, we just decided to call it a day.
It was pretty dissappointing to leave because my vision of us having a wonderful, fun time at Disneyworld with Jason was shattering all around me. He had just been a cranky little boy almost all day long! It's funny though, in these pictures he looks pretty happy! I guess he was pretty obedient when we told him to smile. haha.
I don't know if I'd do it again, but it was a good lesson in parenting...he was too young and it was too crowded. I keep telling myself that at least it was free. I cannot imagine how mad I would have been had we paid for it!
It was hilarious, though, as soon as we were out of the crowds, he started acting like his sweet self again. We road a boat back to our parking spot, and visited the Wedding Pavillion on the way. They have a pretty nice photo spot with the castle in the background, so we tried for a picture one more time.
Looking back on our trip to Disneyworld, Jason says it was so fun and is so glad we got to go there. Maybe next time he'll be happy while we're actually in the park. And hopefully it will be less crowded!
We are so grateful we can go as often as we do! Thanks Mom and Dad!
